Loveliness

Today has been an excellent day! I went through Soar training at work and learned lots of restraints. It was actually pretty fun! Then I went to the pool with my neighbor Natalie and some guys from our ward. We played water bball and sand volleyball. Pretty awesome, and super fun. Then we went to Papa Murphey's and got the most delicious pizza ever. Seriously. Stuffed crust Chicken and Bacon. Huge. Wonderful. Caloric. Delicious. Card games with Darin, Paul, and Jen. Then Movie night watching Quantum of Solace with some wardies. Excellent day.

So I just got my new camera charger in the mail! So i decided I needed to post a picture for you all:) By the way, I am loving Amazon.com. I got my camera charger (plus TWO extra batteries that came with it) all for like $10. So great.

Here is my rendition of Starry Night that I made in my Art class last semester:)

Ping

Poor Ping.

Last Fall Semester I had to do a final creativity project for my History of Creativity Class. I decided to make a life-sized saran wrap sculpture. So I asked my friend Ann if i could use her as a model. All you do is wrap them up in saran wrap like a mummy and then go over the saran wrap with clear packing tape. Then you cute them out of it and re-tape it together. (You do it in parts of course so the person doesn't suffocate:) Finished the project, got a good grade, and carried it home from campus all in one day. By the way, you can't imagine the looks I got as I carried this life sized thing under my arm as I crossed campus. It was pretty funny:)
(Ping in her prime!)

After working so hard on this project, I was not ready to part with it just yet. So From December to June it has basically just sat in our front room. throughout the months, we roommates played practical jokes on each other with it. Sticking it in each others closets, beds, shower, etc. Fun Stuff. Naturally, as it became a member of the apartment, we named it. Ping. Great name huh? ;) (It's a great conversation starter by the way, if you ever have people over that you don't really know. Breaks the ice real fast!)

So June comes. I'm cleaning the apartment on Saturday. I look at Jen and we both know it's time. It's time to say good-bye to Ping. So as we take the trash and Ping to the dumpster, we pass our friend Paul's car in the parking lot... hehe. We throw the trash away and head over to his car. We stick Ping under the windshield wipers on his windshield. Brilliant!! We walk away triumphantly.

All day passes without a text from Paul. Very unusaul, as we both expected at least some kind of reaction from him. Sunday comes. We sit by Paul in Sacrament meeting and he says we got him good and that unfortunately, Ping is no longer with us. Sad Day. Evening comes. Jen and I are sitting in my room both catching up on some journal writing and we hear a weird krinkly noise outside (our window was open). I ignored it and kept writing. It happens again, and Jen bolts upright and yells, "PING!" We both scramble to the window and see her. Poor Ping, decapitated and hung from the roof of our building, swinging gently in the breeze right outside our window.

Naturally, our first instinct was to save Ping in order for a future retaliation. Then I wanted to catch Paul in the act, so I go out the front door and guess what i see on the mat? Ping's head with a note on it saying, "Sorry I lied. Ping is still here..." Hahahahahaha it was SOOOO funny! But you better believe that we WILL retaliate:) I don't know when or how, but we will...

The Dating Box

As of last month, my ward has a Dating committee. Yes, a real calling complete with a chair, co-chair, and committee. Pretty funny, but pretty awesome. So, they started having a dessert night every Sunday after ward prayer where you can come for a treat and to put names in "The Dating Box".

Here's how it works: Anyone can write two people's names down (in the ward) and put them in the box to set them up for date. If you are lucky enough to be selected, you get an email asking you to respond with the maximum number of dates you'd like to go on that week and the times you are available. By responding to the email, you are accepting any dates they set you up on. Once they get all the times worked out, they email you back and tell you Who your date(s) are with and when. The guy is in charge of planning and paying for the date. They only set you up on a first date, and it can only be an hour long. So it's just a fun and social way to get to know all the people in your ward better. Well, and date them if you want:)

This weekend was my first experience with The Dating Box:) I was scheduled for a date on Friday with Erik...who was a no show. but it's okay, I have since forgiven him. He had oral surgery eralier that day and the meds affected him so much he was knocked out all evening. He felt really bad, and we are going out on Monday instead:) I also got set up with David for a lunch date on Sat. It was fun! Very casual, just went to lunch at Panda Express ( I forgot how much I hate that place, but I survived:) and chatted. Fun. Not interested in either of them, but they are fun guys;) I know Jen and Paul and Tisah all put my name in again this week, so we'll see how that goes.

Blessings

My excuse for not posting these past few months=lost camera charger=no pics. Still haven't found it, but I finally gave in and ordered a new one from amazon this week, so pictures will be soon to come.

So many blessings have come to me this past month and a half! I found a job, got a $4,000 scholarship for the upcoming school year, and got to spend three weekends in St. george with Mom, Dad, and KAtie before they left for Ohio. So blessed.

Things seem like a whirl-wind recently, but they are great:) I finished the semester back in April, made lots of trips to SG, helped Ali and Perris move, found a job, started working, and have been super involved in ward activities! I really love my ward, and I'll be sad to move to a different one in August. But we'll only be a block away, so we'll be able to chill with the old ward and have a whole new ward to get to know too.

Work has been great. I started full time last Monday. I work with a 14 yr old boy that's only disability is severe diabetes. He's a pretty cool kid and we get along well. I pick him up everyday at 8am and drop him off at 4. We meet up with the rest of our group at 10am and we just go do things in the community:) We've been to Trafalga (it's kinda like Chuck-E. Cheese) and up Provo Canyon, and play games at parks. I really enjoy it, and the best part is I get paid to do all these fun things!! Love it. Definitely gonna have quite the farmer's tan by the end of the summer:) I'm pretty exhausted by the end of the day because we are so active and in the sun so much, but i always sleep well.

My roommate Ashley moves out tomorrow, which basically just leaves me and Jen. It'll be a little weird having just the two of us around, but it'll be fun! We have another roommate, Kaylee, but her internet boyfriend just moved here last week from Canada and we basically haven't seen her since then. All her kitchen stuff is gone and she never comes home...really i've only seen her once in the last week. crazy. Oh well.

I've definitely missed having Ali and Perris and little Wade around! But I'm glad P gets to work at Fitness Ridge!! I sure do love it there. It's been nice to hear everyone say hello through him:)
I've been over to Jami's quite a few times too:) She helped me cut out and sew a love sac for my apartment. It turned out awesome. I'll have to post a picture as soon as my new camera charger arrives in the mail.
